A BIT ABOUT ME:
I trained in theatre design at Wimbledon School of Art under Richard Negri. On graduation I was awarded a place on the Arts Council of Great Britain Designer Scheme, which guaranteed my first 12 months as a designer by placing me as Assistant Designer to Jonathon Porter at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton where I was given the opportunity to design a range of productions including “Entertaining Mr. Sloane”, “Juno & the Paycock”, a Victorian Music Hall and a drama about the history of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
After that I was an assistant designer at the new Leeds Playhouse (now replaced by the West Yorkshire Playhouse) and then the Connaught Theatre Worthing.

I became Head of Design at Lincoln Theatre Royal under the directors Clare Venables & Howard Lloyd Lewis followed by positions at the Library Theatre Manchester, the Marlowe Canterbury,  the Octagon Theatre in Education company, M6 Theatre Company, the Dukes Playhouse Lancaster & Contact Theatre Manchester. I eventually went freelance designing productions at Chester, Cheltenham, Bristol Old Vic, Liverpool Everyman, the Torch theatre, the Stephen Joseph Theatre Scarborough amongst others as well as returning to companies in which  I had been resident.

During the 80s & 90s I decided to move into other related design areas and had a spell as production designer/art director with Cosgrove Hall Productions - an animation company producing work for childrens television - working on “The Wind in the Willows”, “The Creepy Crawlies” & “The Fool of the World & his Flying Ship”. I also designed installations for visitor centres such as the Piece Hall in Halifax and a themed exhibition in the Albert Dock Liverpool about Cosgrove Hall, alongside temporary exhibitions in art galleries such as the Whitworth in Manchester.
Eventually I diversified further moving into conference & event design which is now where most of my work originates alongside rare forays into theatre. I have designed for numerous production companies including Fisher Productions, Sprout, 20/20, SSK among others. The projects have been extremely diverse ranging from conferences for Glaxo, CIPD, Balfour Beatty, etc. to Elton John’s 50th birthday party, Pirelli calendar launches, car launches, building launches, the Wimbledon Champions Dinner, awards ceremonies, wedding parties & Christmas parties for 3500 guests.

I have also recently been painting for myself - mostly buildings & people - although frustratingly I do not have the time to paint as much as I would like.
